When is Black Friday 2024?
Black Friday always falls the day after Thanksgiving in the USA, which takes place on 28 November this year.
Originally, the American festivity, with people in the US going crazy for its cut-price bargains, but there is more to the meaning behind Black Friday.
This means the most eagerly-awaited sale of the year starts on 29 November.
But now Black Friday and Cyber Weekend has spread worldwide, as thousands of retailers across the world take part and millions of shoppers spend big money over the long weekend.
Cyber Monday marks the final day of the sale, but there are discounts to be had even before the event and after – just make sure to make a wishlist of what you’re looking for and start browsing big retailers from early November all the way to Christmas.
Keep an eye on our best Black Friday deals as I will be bringing you the latest price cuts as they happen, before and during the big day itself on everything, including advent calendars.
Will advent calendars be on sale during Black Friday this year?
Advent calendars are sure to be on sale during Black Friday as they’re hugely popular in the run-up to Christmas.
Last year we saw advent calendars on offer during the Black Friday sale to cover all eventualities – beauty, food, jewellery, alcohol, toys and pets.
The popularity of advent calendars has soared in recent years and now people want more than the traditional chocolate version.
Advent calendars are loved by both little and big kids, with us bigger kids going crazy for designer beauty and booze varieties.
Expect discounts on any advent calendars not already sold out – after all, they come into their own from 1 December, and this year that falls in the middle of the Black Friday sale.
Some advent calendars may have sold out by the time Black Friday comes around, but in previous years there has still been a selection of you can shop for even less come Cyber Weekend.
In the meantime, I recommend checking out The Sun’s reviews of some of this year’s beauty Advent calendars to decide which ones are worth investing in.
The Sun’s Mia Lyndon tested out Lookfantastic’s hotly-anticipated beauty advent calendar, while Zoe Bennetts weighed in on Charlotte Tilbury’s beauty Advent calendar.
I have tested Rituals Advent calendar, reviewed Revolution’s Advent calendar and shared my honest thoughts on Glossybox’s Advent calendar.

Which Advent calendar retailers are taking part in Black Friday this year?
Advent calendars are trickling through, and have yet to be reduced in any sales just yet.
I don’t yet have confirmation on which retailers will be reducing the price of its Advent calendars as part of the Black Friday sale this year, but I can take an educated guess that many stores will be closer to November 29th.
Some Advent calendars – especially sought-after beauty collections – sell out quickly they don’t typically make it as far as Black Friday.
However, any that are still available will likely be reduced in price, like last year.
Major retailers we expect to offer Advent calendars of all kinds this year include:
Is Black Friday a good time to buy an Advent calendar?
The answer to that is yes – and no.
Some beauty advent calendars are so in demand they sell out pretty much as soon as they launch.
Advent calendars have become increasingly more popular than ever before because they offer amazing value for a low price, often containing full-size as well as mini products.
That said, there are still bound to be lots of beauty Advent calendars available from a host of popular brands so Black Friday can be a very good time indeed to get your hands on one.
Last year selected advent calendars were reduced by up to 50%.
I anticipated a great selection of food and drink calendars, not just the traditional chocolate variety, but tea, gin, whisky, wine and beer reduced in the Black Friday sale.
There are advent calendars for kids, adults, dogs and cats, so you’re sure to find one you want at a bargain price.
When is Cyber Monday 2024 and will advent calendars go on sale?
Cyber Monday is traditionally the online-only extension of Black Friday and marks the end of the sale.
The final sale event is always marked on the Monday following Black Friday, and this year it falls on 2nd December.
Advent calendar retailers will be taking part in Cyber Monday, but what will be available will depend on stock levels – as many bestselling calendars sell out incredibly quickly.
It’s worth keeping an eye out for exclusive Cyber Monday savings or extra discounts, as shops attempt to clear stock ahead of the festive season.
However, don’t wait too long in the hope you’ll be able to pick up the calendar you want for a bargain price, as you may well find it has sold out.
For any advent calendars still in stock at the end of the sale, discounts are likely to continue in the run-up to Christmas.
In previous years I have also seen Advent calendars reduced in the January sale, and if they can keep it is worth stocking up for the next Christmas.

For beer fans, there are many beer Advent calendars on the market, which include a range of bitters, stouts, IPAs and pale ales behind their doors.
I personally loved the Brewdog Craft Beer Advent Calendar and Beerwulf Advent Calendar, as both included 24 drinks to sample last December.
Drinks by the Dram and Master of Malt are also known to stock plenty of boozy Advent calendars too.
